Culture Conquest

New Beginnings

If only I could think of a cheesier way to start this enthralling blog you are about to read. If only.

I’ve had “start a blog” on my to-do lists for quite some time now, but it took a little self-motivation, many a night watching beauty blogger YouTube videos, and the sheer self-interest in holding myself accountable to the things I say. Also, I hope some of this might be interesting to you in some fashion.
Along the lines of self-motivation, part of this blog is hopefully going to highlight (not brush over), my plans for a healthier lifestyle – namely working out more. One of my yearly resolutions is to work out more and get healthy, because let’s be honest, I’m not. Well, my eating habits coincide with my love for cooking, which thankfully is often times healthy and homemade; however, my desires to physically exert myself have diminished significantly since I returned to the states from my 6 month travels in Europe.

I managed to lose 20 lbs. when I studied abroad, I assume from the need to walk almost everywhere, and the ability to get lost walking through history for hours on end. Sure beats the windy snowstorms and the constant need to “pop in” to Jimmy Johns for a quick lunch. You can only imagined how I gained almost it all back in the following year.

Anyways, I’m just saying it’s obvious why “get healthy” is on every American’s list of resolutions for every new year, but I don’t want to be one of those people who, two months down the road, doesn’t remember what a treadmill looks like. I’ll attempt to catalog my journey here, along with other exciting moments that might happen in the life of a 20-something who has no clue what the future holds post college graduation.

As I mentioned, I love to cook, so keep an eye out for some ramblings about food culture, recipes, and local restaurant favorites – whatever my foodie heart desires. I have the hopes of producing video content as well, but that might entail a camera upgrade (on a college budget).

Since I already have my dream flat decorated (in my mind unfortunately), I might post design, architecture, household ideas as well. But we’ll get there when we get there….

For now, welcome to what I’m calling Culture Conquest – a social experiment of sights and smells. A blog about mostly nothing, that just might turn into something.
